Nuna

The Desert in Bloom is a phenomenon that happens around every 4 years in Atacama, the driest desert of the world, in the North of Chile. The infertile earth is embroidered with a veil of flowers resembling a colorful rug over the fields. Nuna is a collection of rugs inspired in the beauty of the desert in bloom.

Far from a literal interpretation, this project is an abstraction of the landscape and its tranquil aesthetical appeal in terms of materiality, texture and depth of tone. Rugs are hand woven by artisans in Peru in llama and alpaca suri wool.
